1 Technology-Based Training
Study description:In this study, we are interested in how to design technology-based training to optimize learning outcomes. You will be asked to fill out an hour-long online survey. A few days later, you will go through an online training program and take a test on what you learned. Additionally, you will be asked to nominate 1-4 older adults (above the age of 65) to take part in this study. Participants are NOT REQUIRED to nominate older adults. These older adults will complete similar requirements during the second half of the semester. Students will receive up to 4.5 research credits for their participation. They will receive 2.5 credits for completing the online survey as well as the online training. Participants will receive 1 additional credit if 1-2 of the older people they recruit complete the study or 2 additional credits if 3 or more if the older people they recruit complete the study. Students will not be penalized if none of the people they recruit complete the survey.
Special Requirements:Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 30. Participants need to be prepared but are NOT REQUIRED to give contact information for 1-4 older adults. (Age 65 or older) Survey links and other communication will be done via the email address listed on your research account at the top of the page.

14 Daily Activities and Well-Being
Study description:The purpose of this study is to better understand how psychological factors are related to health-relevant attitudes and activities. This study begins with a brief, mandatory training session on Friday, February 10th, which will orient you to the study. Immediately after this, you will complete a short survey of psychological factors. The rest of the study consists of accessing a website to complete a short activity and mood log at the end of every day for 21 days. At the end of the 21st day, you will complete another very short survey. Some of the questions asked in this study address subject matter that some may find sensitive (drug use, sexual activity, diet). You can earn up to 6 credits for completing all parts of this study, but you must attend one of the mandatory training sessions on Friday, February 10th. We are offering several sessions for your convenience. The sessions are identical so you only need to attend one. You can earn a total of 6 credits for this study, which starts with a 20 minute mandatory training session, and a 15-20 minute –long initial survey. Daily activity logs, which you will access on the internet will take approximately 10-15 minutes per day for 21 days. The final survey will take 5 minutes. Total study time will range from 20 minutes to 365 minutes, spread out over 21 days. Credits will be prorated for the number of valid daily activity logs provided, at a rate of ˝ credit for every three valid daily activity logs provided, plus another ˝ credit for providing two consecutive week of valid daily activity logs, and another ˝ credit for providing all 21 valid daily activity logs. Thus, participants will receive 1 credit for the initial training session and short survey, up to 4˝ credits for the daily activity logs, and another ˝ credit for the final survey, for a total of 6 credits.
Special Requirements:This study is open to participants between the ages of 18 and 64. Because of the sensitive nature of some of the questions, students younger than 18 will not be able to participate.

18 An Investigation of Lucid Dreaming
Study description:We are Interested in the kinds of dreams people have particularly how different kinds of stimuli affect the kinds of dreams people report having. Lucid Dreams are dreams are a particular kind of dream state that is closely related to the concept of “awake dreaming”. There is a large body of research that has looked at the nature of these dreams. We are interested in investigating further the extent of lucid dreams in college students and what might influence them. This study aims to investigate how many people experience lucid dreams. When they feel they are awake when they are in fact dreaming.
